Join the Jesus Revolution!

By Michelle Mardenborough

Over 2,000 years ago Jesus, started a revolution with twelve men which has multiplied into 2.4 billion people. But how did that happen? I’m glad you asked.

Jesus was given an astronomical assignment. The assignment would not only start a revolution but would launch a movement that would never cease; a movement that would set the standard for how people treat and interact with one another, a movement that would inevitably change the world. Jesus was the ultimate Game Changer. The Bible states in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Jesus’ assignment was to die for humanity; He was the ransom for the debt we owed. He redeemed us from the curse of sin. Mankind inherited sin through Adam. All humanity is born into the world with a sinful nature. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The Bible also states in Romans 6:23 “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” So God in his awesome love and mercy gave us the perfect gift, Jesus. He was our substitute. What a colossal assignment. Jesus accomplished the ultimate sacrifice, He looked into eternity and saw each of us and considered us worthy to die for. No matter how many times I read about what Jesus did for you and me I am blown away; especially knowing that He accomplished this assignment as a man. However, before Jesus died He commanded some things of us.

Jesus told us to follow Him, He states in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus told us to love one another 1John 4:7 and to forgive one another Eph 4:32 Jesus told us to have faith the size of a mustard seed, Matt 17:20 Jesus told us to turn the other cheek Matt 5:39 Jesus told us to give freely Luke 6:38 and to be compassionate and kind with one another Col 3:13

Jesus was setting a new standard. He required a higher lifestyle. He was changing the game. Most importantly, Jesus required that we model this new lifestyle consistently. Jesus said that we should be the light of the world; a moral compass for others to follow. This new lifestyle would attract others and multiply into a movement. How would we accomplish this? Jesus final words to his early followers was a commandment to go into the outermost parts of the world and make disciples. We too have an assignment; our assignment is to not only imitate Jesus we are also required to tell others about Jesus; to share His life with others, to talk about the benefits and blessings of following Jesus Christ; to actively be a part of the revolution. Are you fulfilling your assignment? Have you shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with your family, neighbors, coworkers and community? If your answer is yes, well done and keep up the good work of soul wining. If not, start today tell someone about Jesus Join the Revolution!
